Calling business owners!

Calling business owners! 〰️

Want your planning, design and marketing looked after so you can get on with running your business?

🤩 🙏💜

You started a business so you could do what you love on your own schedule and terms.

But lately it’s been feeling more like a 9–5 without the paid overtime, annual leave or the support of a team.

Yes – you’re the business owner, but you're wearing too many hats and nothing runs smoothly unless you personally make sure it does.

Or maybe managing your outsourced ‘experts’ has become a full-time job in itself…?

DOes this sound familiar?

imagine this…

✨ Freedom to return to your own zone of genius.

🙌 Clarity on where the business is heading and a roadmap to get there.

💆 Peace of mind that your marketing efforts are speaking directly to the clients and customers and their desires.

🏃 Free time in your week to do non-work things.

🙏 Confidence and trust in a team which provides everything necessary to enable freedom, clarity and peace of mind.

Introducing

〰️

Introducing 〰️

We partner with business owners like you to clarify your vision and craft your business, so you can create your life.

Your business is unique.

That’s why we don’t have a one-size-fits-all solution.

How we roll

FIRST WE:

Get to know you, your business, your clients and customers.

From here we:

Partner with you to clarify your vision and set some meaningful metrics on what success looks like for you.

Then it’s over to us to:

Use the tools in our toolkit to move you towards those goals.

The Friday Morning Method

We work through these three pillars because over the 10+ years we’ve each spent running our own businesses (and working with 50+ businesses as clients) we’ve learned:

Designing your business around your life – instead of your life around your business – is what creates joy, freedom and a sense of purpose.

What usually happens is this…

This typically includes:

  • endless rebranding

  • not-quite-right websites

  • scattered socials

  • newsletters sent inconsistently – and potentially sounding a little desperate!

  • paid ads without a campaign strategy

  • over-reliance and over-investment in video and photo content

Sound familiar?

(Don’t be too tough on yourself 😢 – this is what most folks do.)

Here’s how we’re different…

This could include things like:

  • branding creation, elevation or relaunch

  • creation of new products or services

  • website design that converts prospects to clients and customers

  • intentional socials that move the needle

  • regular done-for-you newsletters that build brand awareness and trust

  • intentional paid advertising as a channel to support the bigger company vision

  • strategic batching of video / photo content for purposeful and impactful communication

  • media features to elevate your profile in the industry and have people excited to work with you or buy your product

We’re a great fit if…

  • You’ve been in business for a while and got lots of great things happening

  • You care about how you spend your most valuable resourceyour time – and you’re acutely aware that things can’t continue as they are at the moment

  • You appreciate great brand and communication design, but you have a business to grow

  • You’ve learned (often the hard way 🫤) that you get what you pay for

  • You’re open and willing to try new things and be innovative

  • You love what you do and love your clients and customers, even if it’s been a while since you felt that way

  • You dream of having a team take care of your marketing and design so you don’t have to worry about it

We’re probably not a good fit if…

  • You’re looking for a quick fix with a few Instagram posts and don’t appreciate the bigger brand vision at stake

  • You’re not ready to invest in the support of brand to take your business where you want it to go

  • You ignore the cut through of brand communication

  • You are a micro-manager and you can’t trust others to deliver value

  • You accept that marketing is a blunt tool but can’t see the value in brand-building

  • You believe that business should be all work and no play

Who we are:

We are a small-but-mighty team of people who listen, challenge, trust and believe, to create connections and forge pathways for ourselves and other business owners.

Our foundations lay deep in the power of introspection, community, brand and humble story-telling.

Vari McKechnie and Tom Pountney aligned on a vision and joined forces to create Friday Morning – for business owners to clarify their vision, craft their business and create the life they really deserve.

We’ve been doing it for years in different guises across a range of industries – from finance broking to property staging, gluten free beer to chai.

Don’t just take our word for it – read other people’s words here >>>

  • As a coach, creative director, design and writer, Vari brings a huge variety of skills and experience to Friday Morning.

Having run her own small business for 15 years, she’s learned a thing or two about what works (and more importantly what doesn’t!) when it comes to balancing work and life.

    Some potentially interesting facts:

I was born in Glasgow, Scotland, and have called Australia home since 2007.

I live by the beach on the Mornington Peninsula with my two sons, Gabe and Noah and our adorable staffy, Stella.

I published my first book in 2023 called Seeds of Courage. (Pretty major bucket list item for me!)

🧑‍🏫 Something my school report said that remains true today:
Vari likes to draw and colour-in. She likes to talk, which can sometimes distract other students.

  • Tom understands how businesses need to act and articulate to head in a desired direction.

He loves listening to business owners to unlock purpose and passion, and has a strong belief that team culture and brand communication is the key to connection and personal – and organisational – growth.

He’s been creating copy and language for brands since 2007 when he spent a year as Editor of the University of West England Student Newspaper.

    Some potentially interesting facts:

I was born in Sussex, England and have called the Mornington Peninsula home since 2017.

I married an Australian and we have three girls; Isabela, Ettie and Maeve – our collective health and happiness – and that of our loved ones – is my why.

I co-founded road safety charity The White Bike Foundation and completed my first (and only to date) Full Ironman Triathlon in 2018

Coffee order: Black. Long in the morning and short in the afternoon

    Weakness: Tim-Tams

🧑‍🏫 Something my school report said that remains true today:
If Tom could apply the energy he shows playing sport and socialising to his school-work, he’d be an A* student

Ready to set some meaningful goals and have your marketing and design taken care of for good?

We’d love to chat

These sessions let us get to know each other a little more and see if we’re a good fit to help you.

Sessions typically take 30 mins.

They’re completely free and with zero obligation.

They can be online or at our office in Mornington, Victoria. (Tom is our appointed in-house barista who will make you a killer coffee if you come visit!)

You won’t find any hard sales tactics here.

We’re just two nice humans who get excited about working with other nice humans.

We’ll ask you a heap of q’s about your business and answer any that you have.

If there’s a fit to work together, great!

If not, we’ll do our best to give you some recommendations and wish you the best!

FAQs

Your questions, our answers.

  • Absolutely. As soon as the agreement is signed, we’ll organise a two-hour discovery session for our copywriter and designer to understand your vision from the start.

  • As much or as little as you want. Ideally, we’d start with the discovery session, then feedback a roadmap a month later. Upon approval of that, we’d meet every month thereafter at meaningful checkpoints.

  • We really need at least a year together to start to have a full impact. But we’ll jump behind the wheel and keep delivering your comms and marketing while we build the new direction and then switch lanes. It’s a journey, not a destination, so we’ll never get ‘there’, but we’ll create some agreed meaningful checkpoints along the way and jump out of the car (move on from the Partnership) whenever either party wants to stop.

Whether you want to have brekkie at home with the kids, walk your dog, have a coffee with mates, surf, run, hit the gym...

Your business should enable – not prohibit – your dream.

YOU get to choose that vision.

WE help you make it a reality.
